Gov't hiring 12,500 health workers, nurses and midwives

Health Secretary Enrique Ona has announced the hiring of 12,500 health workers, mostly nurses.
Of this number, 10,500 nurses will be assigned to Department of Health (DOH) hospitals nationwide, while 1,000 will be deployed in rural areas. The government will also hire 1,000 midwives.

Nurses will receive P8000 from the national government plus P2,000 from the local government units. Midwives will receive P6,000, on the other hand.

The nurses and midwives will have a 12-month Philhealth coverage and a GSIS accident insurance.

Interested applicants can directly apply with the DOH hospitals.

The government will also be hiring 100 doctors. Medical practitioners can apply directly with the Human Resource department of the DOH.
